Arts Nurtures Hearts, Kindness Makes a Better World
– Book Launch of <Eventful Years> by Chen Weibang

On 30th September 2017, the Launch Ceremony of the new book <Eventful Years> by Mr. Chen Weibang was organized by Maoli Collection, and attended by Mr. Wang Jiarong, Counsellor and Consul General of the China Embassy in Singapore, Dr. Ho Kah Leong, former Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Information and the Arts, and Mr. Toh Soon Huat, Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution.
It is reported that “Eventful Years” is a collection of artworks by Mr Chen Weibang during the Cultural Revolution, which reflects the unique historical society during its mid 60s until late 70s.
During the launch ceremony, Mr. Chen Weibang said: “I have benefited a lot from these collections, both artistically or mentally, as well as material benefits. He personally donated $10,000 to Sian Chay as his payback to the society. The personal donation of $10,000 can help 1,000 senior patients to seek for free consultation and medication.
Arts nurtures hearts. He explained that through this 30-years of experience in the collection which brought him not only these objects, but also a collection of spirit and culture symbolized by these objects. Kindness makes the world better and purifies people’s hearts.
Mr. Chen Weibang’s deeds coincide with Sian Chay’s faith in delivering kindness.
In the Chairman Toh Soon Huat’s sharings, he said, “Helping an individual means helping the whole family, as each family member’s sickness will definitely affect the mood of the whole family. Our mission is to help patients to relieve from pain and create a healthy and blissful family for fostering a harmonious society, adhering to the charity spirit of Sian Chay, ‘ Trust, Approach, Attitude, and Conduct.”
