Sian Chay Medical Institution raised over S$8.26 million from donations for 11 months from January to November last year. The annual budget last year was S$ 6 million while the actual expenses reached S$ 7.22 million last year.
Serving the charity cause for over a century , Sian Chay always upheld the spirit of ” service to humanity” and brought warmth and love to the millions of working population. As Sian Chay grew and developed, more and more people have received the love and care during their illness. In the past three and a half years (2014 – June 2017), Sian Chay has served a total of 730,000 visits and prescribed 1,560,000 dosages of prescriptions. In the next five years (2018-2022), it is estimated that the number of patient visits will reach 2.5 million and the dosages of prescriptions will reach 4.8 million.
In face of the fund-raising challenges, Sian Chay undertook measures to cope with the situation. With the assistance and support of Housing Development Board, 10 branches were opened in HDB estates pay only a concessionary rate.
Sian Chay also applies for various government grants for improving medical services and defraying fundraising costs.
Notwithstanding any predicament Sian Chay faces, the spirit of love and faith of goodwill prevails. The 5 core values of Sian Chay, “Forgiveness ,Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessing” reinforce the essence of goodwill. “To support nation building and build a harmonious society”, Sian Chay actively promote its beliefs that “Nation Progresses, Family Prospers; Family Harmony, Successful Endeavours”, and that “Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People”. At the meantime, Sian Chay supports charity causes by actively participating in activities organized by community organisations, civic groups and community centres to give back to the society. Goodwill becomes more beautiful because of the devotion of love.
For pragmatic reasons, Sian Chay will not be opening new branches, just adding one new branch in Choa Chu Kang next year. In the year of 2018, Sian Chay will raise funds through more charity events.
