Headquartered in Shanghai, China Eastern Airlines flying throughout China and the world, is one of the largest airlines in China. Over 100 million passengers fly with China Eastern Airlines every year, and its route network connects 167 countries and 1062 destinations worldwide.

China Eastern Airlines Group has always adhered to serving the national economy and people’s livelihood, serving economic and social development, serving reform and opening up, and pursuing the coordinated development of “national interests, economic benefits, and social welfare.” The extension of China Eastern Airlines’ “Blue Sky Charity Programme” to Sian Chay Medical Institution in Singapore reflected its spirit of social welfare, highlighting the strategic goal of “China Eastern Dream” propelled by “Chinese Dream”.

During the visit, Chairman Toh introduced the values, spiritual connotations, fee structure and service operations of Sian Chay Medical Institution. He said that the original goal of establishing this platform is inspire people to do good deeds and to rally forces of loving power to support charity together with Sian Chay.

Ms. Sun Rongwen said, “I am very pleased to be here with you today at Sian Chay Medical Institution — a charitable organization with a history of a century. Chairman Toh once said, ‘The gratitude and civic consciousness shall make the world more peaceful and in harmony ’, which is deeply agreeable and admirable. Therefore, we come all the way from Shanghai, China, and we will join you to carry the spirit of Sian Chay and contribute to the universal love of the world.”

“In fact, before setting out, we had done a lot of research on Sian Chay’s contribution as well as the influence on the local Chinese and even Singapore’s social development since its establishment. After this visit, we are even more impressed by the influence of Sian Chay. We are also enlightened that, as a member of the society, helping each other will make our social progress.”

The help offered to the needy people through this activity may be sparse and limited. However, we wish to get an example and inspire thousands of people to act and help more people.

In April this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Boao, Hainan. The President said that China and Singapore are close neighbours separated by only a strip of water and the two countries enjoy a long history of friendship. Let us work together to build a community of shared future for mankind under the initiative of the President and under the framework of the “Belt and Road Initiative”. At the same time, it also makes us understand the significance of this activity beyond the conventional level of non-governmental exchanges between China and Singapore. Let the spirit of Sian Chay Medical Institution be widely known in the world, and inspire more people to devote in the mainstream actions of helping others!

In another ten days, it will be the traditional Chinese festival of the Chinese symbolizing reunion – Mid-Autumn Festival. Hereby, I wish you a happy Mid-Autumn Festival in advance, with long life and eternal happiness.”

Chairman Toh said, “Sian Chay is not only a traditional Chinese medical institution. It is also a charity as well as a social enterprise. Social enterprises need social operation; in other words, it needs everyone to contribute a little love and make the society more harmonious and beautiful.”

The stewards and stewardesses handed the gifts to the needy and elderly. They expressed their love with their own actions. The old people received not only a gift, but also goodwill. Everyone was moved by this kind of power.
