On 10th October 2018 at 8am, Mr. Toh Soon Huat, Executive Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution lead our Sian Chay HQ team with the Managing Director of No Signature Holdings, management staff and enthusiastic volunteers to distribute 500 goodie bags worth $15 each to the elderly living in Blocks 31, 32, 33 Bendemeer Road.
Honourable Adviser of Sian Chay, Senior Minister of State (Defence), Member of Parliament for Jalan BesarGRC (Whampoa Division), Mr Heng Chee How also the graced the event and delivered the goodie bags to the less mobile elderly.
MP Heng Chee How remarked, “Welcome to Whampoa, friends from the No Signboard Seafood. Block 31, 32, 33, 3 one room HDB flats form part of Jalan Besar GRCand the tenants are mostly elderly. Please explain slowly and patiently when sending the goodie bags to them because the elderly residents may have difficulties in hearing or moving. Once again, on behalf of the residents and friends, thank you for your support .”
No Signature Seafood was founded in 1981 an is renowned for its original and innovative dishes.
There are now four outlets across the islands.
Mr. Sam Lim Yong Sim, CEO of No Signboard Seafoodfirst got acquainted with Mr.Toh Soon Huat about 10 years ago at the TV Charity Show “Borderless Warmth, Endless Love” for Sichuan Wenchuan earthquake in China.
It was also at this event that Mr. Sam Lim Yong Sim first got to know about Chairman Toh. He was impressed by Chairman Toh’s compassion and selfless dedication. He saw the good reputation of a charity and the universal love of a leader from Chairman Toh.
Thereafter, he has great trust in Chairman Toh and Sian Chay Medical Institution and pledged to support Sian Chay’s charitable works with his full ability.
During this goodie bag distribution, Mr. Sam Lim Yong Sim assigned 150 employees, including Executive Directors of No Signboard Holdings to participate in the charity event.
The residents living here are mostly poor and elderly. Some of them have been living here for more than ten or twenty years. Although the government provides subsidized HDB rental, the life is still tough for the residents here.
Over a long period, Sian Chay Medical Institution has held numerous voluntary welfare activities throughout the island to provide food and daily necessities, goodie bags for senior needy citizens. We hope to do our utmost to help as many people as possible.
Many elderly people said that they have received the free TCM services, including acupuncture treatment, tuina therapy provided by Sian Chay Whampoa branch. It is also not the first time they have received the goodie bags from Sian Chay. When they receive the goodie bags, some of them were moved with tears. For those who lived here all these years, it meant not only material help but also love and care in spirit.
Mr. Toh Soon Huat, Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution, has been promoting the corevalues of “Forgiveness, Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessing”, supporting the nation building and fostering a harmonious society. He often advocates, “Nation Progresses, Family Prospers; Family Harmony, Successful Endeavours. Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People. This can make a better society .” It is important to give back to the society by supporting the charity causes and participating in charitable activities organized by community organisations, civic groups, and community centres.
Just as the saying goes “many hands make light work.”, Sian Chay Medical Institution is expecting more kind people to join forces to lend a helping hand, to contribute to the charity cause, to continue the goodwill, and to inherit the love.
