On June 6, 2021 (Sunday), Shin Min Daily News reported on ” Director of Consulting Technology Consulting Company Arthur Pok Scaled Up Mother’s Day Giving Of Flower Event To Benefit More Beneficiaries “.

Having worked hard in a foreign country for a long time, the director of a technology consulting company returned to his roots and regularly participated in Mother’s Day charity events without fail.

Arthur Pok (57 years old), director of a technology consulting company, was busy with his overseas business early on. In 2009, he wanted stability and chose to return to settle in Singapore.

Through friends, Arthur Pok came to be acquainted with Sian Chay. At that time, Sian Chay had only one clinic and two TCM practitioners. During that initial stage, he came to know Chairman Toh Soon Huat, and tried his best to help Sian Chay.

Toh Soon Huat was also adviser to the Boss Group at that time. The Boss Group was established in 2009 and consists of seven entrepreneurs who studied business management courses together.

The Boss Group’s initial activities were mainly limited to corporate visits and wellness group activities, but as more members joined, the group began to actively engage in regular charitable activities, including giving flowers on Mother’s Day, and Arthur Pok was one of the participating members.

In the first Mother’s Day event, they bought roses and distributed them to ladies in the streets. Such a simple gesture touched Arthur Pok a lot.

“Seeing their smiles and surprised expressions, I found that the happiness I received and yet without reward, cannot be obtained from money and career.”

In subsequent Mother’s Day flower giveaway activities, Arthur Pok will surely dedicate time to participate. From the second year, the activity collaborated with different organizations to donate funds to the needy and enlarged the group of beneficiaries.

Arthur Pok revealed that in the second year, they cooperated with the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) and purchased flowers made by the intellectually disabled children.

Some mothers could hardly conceal their emotions and said that they had never expected receiving flowers made by children themselves. This made Arthur Pok more determined to continue with charity work.

Now entering its 11th year, the event could not be organised this year, like last year due to the pandemic, but Arthur Pok said that he would turn to doing it online instead to conveying his heartfelt message.

“At present, we are cooperating with four or five organizations and also with the Radin Mas Community Club. We want to expand the activities to the community.”

He also established a foundation for Ghana in Africa and plans to build basic medical services, and provide food and accommodation for people in need.

Arthur Pok, who has been overseas for many years, met a doctor from Ghana in China. When the two talked about Ghana, they mentioned the lack of infrastructure in Ghana, and hence started the foundation to help the locals there.

The two set up the Nilloc Foundation in 2019. Arthur Pok also flew to Ghana in December the same year. For the next six weeks, he witnessed the actual situation in Ghana and began planning to start basic medical services in a certain location.

He flew back to Singapore in February last year. Due to the pandemic, the plan was slow in implementing, but currently the foundation has more than a dozen core members, as well as people living in Africa who donate generously to contribute to charity.

When asked about future plans, Arthur Pok said that he does not have specific goals, but hoped that like-minded friends would be happy to donate, and he would continue to do good within his ability.
