JCI World President JCI Senator Dawn Hetzel visits Jalan Kayu Branch

JCI Mandarin (Singapore) and Sian Chay Medical Institution co-host the JCI World President JCI Senator Dawn Hetzel’s visit to the Jalan Kayu Branch at 219 Jalan Kayu , Pei Hwa Foundation Building, #01-01, Singapore 730001 on Monday, 11th September 2017 at 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

JCI World President Dawn Hetzel was accompanied by JCI Singapore National President JCI Senator Lim Hui Jie and 30 other JCI Singapore members for the visit cum health screening.

JCI Mandarin (Singapore) briefed the JCI World President and JCI Singapore delegation on the background to the set up of Jalan Kayu branch. In 2015, JCI Mandarin (Singapore) under the leadership of the President Dato Sri Paduka Sean Wong , organised the Inaugural Healing Arts Charity Gala Concert in conjunction with the SG50 and 35th Anniversary of JCI Mandarin (Singapore) at Resorts World Convention Centre @ Sentosa on 5th September 2015. The Charity Gala Concert raised $212,000 to fund the renovation and set up costs of the Jalan Kayu branch.

The above premises at the Pei Hwa Foundation building was kindly sponsored by the Pei Hwa Foundation which has waived the monthly rental@$7,000 of TCM clinic with effect December 2015 for a period of 6 years valued at $504,000.

The Jalan Kayu branch was officially declared open by the Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong on 27th December 2015. The Patron of JCI Mandarin (Singapore) is Dato’ Seri Dr Derek Goh BBM, who is also the Honourable Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution.

The Jalan Kayu branch also hosted visits by Mr Ng Chee Meng , Minister for Education (Schools) and Second Minister for Transport and Dr Intan Azura Mokthar, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC and Grassroots Adviser for Yio Chu Kang GROs . Beside this, JCI Senators Club of Singapore  and JCI Mandarin (Singapore) also conducted their General Membership Meetings (GMMs) at the Jalan Kayu branch.

On 29th March 2017, JCI Mandarin (Singapore) launched the Charity Draw 2017 project in aid of Sian Chay Medical Institution at Park Royal Hotel, Kitchener Road. The Charity Draw 2017 project target to raise $300,000 through the sales of 100,000 charity draw tickets@$3. The fundraising project is supported by the Tote Board/ Singapore Turf Club with a $50,000 grant. The Draw for the 30 cash prizes of the Charity Draw was conducted by the JCI Singapore National President, JCI Mandarin (Singapore) President , Singapore Pools Chairman, Sian Chay Chairman and other JCI Senators and JCI LOM Presidents at the Singapore Pools Building , Middle Road on 8th August 2017 and witnessed by the Auditor. Overall, the Charity Draw 2017 raised $300,000 (including unclaimed prizes).

The funds ($300,000) raised was designated for the corporate adoption of Yio Chu Kang Branch, Blk 214 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 #01-1536, Singapore 560214, whose renovation and set up cost ($200,000) was sponsored by the Patron of JCI Singapore/Mandarin JCI Senator Dato’ Seri Dr. Derek Goh BBM. The corporate adoption by JCI Mandarin (Singapore ) commences in 2018 for one year.

Since its opening in December 2015, Jalan Kayu branch has served 38,546 patient visits. It is forecasted that Jalan Kayu branch will served an aggregate of 200,000 patient visits in next 5 years (2018-2022).

Overall , JCI Mandarin (Singapore)  in partnership with Sian Chay Medical Institution has secured overall sponsorships and donations worth $2 million ( including the sponsorships ($400,000) of Yio Chu Kang Branch @ Blk 214 Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, #01-1536, Singapore and Gambas Branch @ Blk 318 Sembawang Vista, #01-221, Singapore 750318 and outright donation pledge of $1,000,000 by JCI Mandarin (Singapore)’s Patron JCI Senator Dato’ Seri Dr Derek Goh BBM since 2015.
