Message from Guest-of-Honour

Mr. Darryl David

MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC

“Universal love is borderless”. This is a noble idea that has been exemplified by Sian Chay Medical Institution since its founding more than a hundred years ago.

Sian Chay Medical Institution has always upheld traditional virtues of charity and helpfulness by providing medical services to benefit the community regardless of race, religion or social status. In recent years, Sian Chay has been expanding their outreach and now has 15 branches and 4 wellness centres across Singapore.

Sian Chay’s AMK-Hougang Branch was launched on 12th August 2012 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Since then the branch has served over 130,000 people and dispensed over 260,000 prescriptions, relying on a lean but committed team of one TCM physician, one “tuina” therapist and two TCM assistants.

Under the leadership of the Executive Chairman Mr. Toh Soon Huat, Sian Chay Medical Institution has set up TCM clinics in various constituencies throughout the island with the belief that as the nation progresses, family prospers. And with family harmony you have successful endeavours.

These heartland clinics provide convenience for the elderly and needy and elevate their well-being and quality of life. The concepts of “Trust, Action, Attitude and Conduct” form the core of the code of conducts that Mr. Toh Soon Huat has always advocated and followed, and it has also inspired more people to contribute to charity.

Some of these contributors and supporters would include the founder of Bellydance Extraordinaire Singapore, Ms. Jamila, who has actively devoted herself to charity activities and has also participated in many charity fundraising performances organised by Sian Chay. In 2016, Ms. Jamila raised $112,000 at the opening banquet of the World Belly Dance Festival to help the needy and her kindness has also inspired more people to participate in charity events.

On behalf of the public and beneficiaries, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported Sian Chay Medical Institution in one way or another. I would also like to commend the Board of Directors and staff of Sian Chay Medical Institution for their selfless contribution and tireless dedication to serving the community. Here’s hoping that Sian Chay’s five core values of forgiveness, universal love, compassion, gratitude and blessing continue to inspire all of us to do all we can for the betterment of our society.

Thank you.
