The Mid-Autumn Festival is filled with full moon and beautiful scenery when distributing mooncakes.
On 31 August at 9am, at No. 31, Bendemeer Road, Sian Chay Medical Institution and Whampoa Welfare and Community Development Fund Committee successfully organized a “moon cake distribution with love” event.
Guests present at the event included Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Heng Chee How, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC, Mr. Toh Soon Huat, JP, Executive Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution, Mr. Yap Seng Teck. PBM, Director, Ms. Sun Xiaopei, Chairman of the Organising Committee,  Whampoa Grassroots leaders, Sian Chay leaders and more than 50 volunteers also participated in it.
During the event, a total of 460 boxes of halal mooncakes were distributed to the elderly living alone and low-income families staying in three room HDB flats (Blk 30 to 33 Bendemeer Road).
During the event, Mr Heng Chee How, Senior Minister of State said, “Thank you to the lovely team of Sian Chay Medical Institution for coming to Whampoa again. Thank you for taking care of the Whampoa residents, grateful for the help, and thanks to Chairman Toh for arranging these mooncakes for the residents during the Mid-Autumn Festival. With love and blessing, they must are very happy, and once again on behalf of the community leaders and residents thanks for the support. “
Chairman Toh Soon Huat later said: “Thanks to benevolent persons for their participation and support. Taking into consideration of the physical condition of elderly , the choice of ingredients for mooncakes are mainly low sugar and less oily. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, 10,000 boxes of halal single yellow moon cakes were distributed islandwide. I hope that everyone can benefit through today’s love sharing event, and hope that next year there will be more people supporting and expanding the Mid-Autumn Festival mooncake distribution so that more elderly and people in need can benefit from it. The crowd felt the warmth of the Mid-Autumn Festival, thank you for your generous contribution, and thank you volunteered for your support. “
