Mr. Toh visited branches, practicing the spirit of charity

19th January 2018 (Friday)

On 19th January, Chairman Toh Soon Huat, accompanied by the management team comprising Joanne Ong, Wang Hui, Zhang Tong, Goh Binbin and Jouee Men ; and renovation contractors for Sian Chay, visited Gambas Branch, Marsiling Branch, Boon Lay Branch, Moulmein-Cairnhill Branch and Whampoa Branch. The purpose of the visits was to inspect the interior of the branches.

During the visits, Mr. Toh held meetings with staff at each branch , encouraging all staff to improve service quality and to project the team spirit of the group. Staff were encouraged to visit the constituencies and distribute flyers to promote the number of patient visits by publicising the core values, belief and spirit of Sian Chay.

Mr. Toh also had conversations with patients waiting in the queue during the visits. A 15-year-old student named Liao Ming Liang told Chairman Toh that he was suffering from physical deformity due to untreated severe sickness at the young age and he had to enroll at a special school. One day, his family learnt from their neighbor that Sian Chay Medical Institution could treat kids’ cough and cold. They tried Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment. After the 3-month treatment, the kid had great improvement in his physical condition. Right then, Liao’s father came. The moment he saw Mr. Toh Soon Huat, he stepped up to hold Mr. Toh’s hand tightly and said that they really appreciate Sian Chay for providing TCM services to them. It was very convenient as the clinic is close to the neighbourhood and it also saved them a lot of money.

An old man in his 80s, recovering from stroke and sitting on wheelchair with hands and feet tied, was being looked after by a domestic helper. When Mr. Toh approached him, his wife told Mr. Toh that they lived nearby and her husband, who had a stroke many years ago, was here for acupuncture. Mr. Toh knew it could be tiring for them as they were at such old age. He then instructed the staff to schedule such patients’ visits as priority to save their waiting time as it could be hard to sit there waiting.

Mr. Toh practices the core values “Forgiveness, Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessing” with his own actions. He supports nation building and fosters social harmony. Sian Chay actively promotes the belief that “Nation Progresses, Family Prospers; Family Harmony, Successful Endeavours. Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People.” Sian Chay gives full support to charity cause by active participation in various charity activities in community organisations, community centres and civic groups to payback to the society. Through his loving deeds , Mr. Toh tells us that we shall care for the patients whole-heartedly in our daily work.
