Sian Chay Charity Gala Dinner: The Starry Sky Is So Beautiful Tonight

On 18th June, Sian Chay Medical Institution invited benevolent people from all walks of life to participate in the “Sian Chay Charity Gala Dinner”; enjoying good fellowship, recognising the philanthropists and promoting charity to more people. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for the Ministry of Trade and Industry a the charity dinner which was attended by 330 benevolent persons.
Dr. Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State of Ministry of Trade and Industry said in his speech, “I am very pleased to see that Sian Chay has gathered a group of like-minded people, contributing money and labour to support charity. The generous donations and kind deeds will definitely inspire Sian Chay to go further on the charity causes. Sian Chay is now paying great attention to work with the young generation in charity, making young people understand the positive energy of charity, conveying the charity ideas to the young generation to make contribution to Singaporeans within one’s means.”
Owing to physical condition, Mr. Toh Soon Huat was unable to attend the dinner. Dr. Koh Poh Koon specially mentioned that, “There is one important figure absent from today’s dinner. He is none other than Dr. Toh Soon Huat. Although Dr. Toh Soon Huat is not here tonight, his heart still with us, and he is always concerned about the charity cause. It is clear that the team led by Chairman Toh is focusing on their goal, which is to save people from pain and suffering, and benefit others.”
Mr. Kelvin Toh, founder of Se7en Media and Organizing Committee Chairman said that, “Thanks to everyone’s co-operation and consistent support to Sian Chay to make this charity gala dinner a success. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all!”
In addition to the direct donations from the guests, the event also included a charity auction of five calligraphy works donated by the 93 years old calligrapher Chui Choo Sin. The benevolent guests present participated in the auctions enthusiastically. The calligraphy work “Tolerance” was bidded by Ms. 陈王明媛 for $6,000; the calligraphy work “Rejoice” was bidded by Mr. Tan Khoon Yong for $6,888; the calligraphy work “Dedication” was bidded by Ms. 陈美华 for $10,000; the calligraphy work “Inclusiveness” was bought by Mr. 伍天送 at price of $10,000; and the calligraphy work “civilization” was bought by Mr. 吴玉亮for $5,000.
During the charity gala dinner, 林泽铭 and 谢金燕, Directors of 21 shutters Pte Ltd, donated S$200,000; Ang Pau Leng, Director of Active Fire Protection Systems Pte Ltd; Chua Cheng Kong, Project Director of Active Fire Protection Systems Pte Ltd; 辜翼樅, President of Yang Kee Logistics Group; Dr. Doreen Tan PBM, founder of Best World Int’l; 张翰民, Director of OLLO Lifestyle International Pte Ltd; 许才生 and 温云锋, Directors of Koh Kock Leong Pte Ltd, each donated S$10,000, plus the auctions and sponsorships of the charity dinner, the total funds raised exceeded S$400,000.
Chairman Toh Soon Huat has always adheres to the five core values of Sian Chay; namely, “forgiveness, universal love, compassion, gratitude and blessing”, to serve the public and support the nation building and fostering a harmonious society. From the society, for the society. We should work together to care for the vulnerable groups in the society with labour or money to contribute strength and love to the charity cause.
