Sian Chay Medical Institution and Minister Indranee distributed 1000 love gifts of food ration to residents together

On November 7, 2020, Shin Min Daily News reported that “Sian Chay Medical Institution and Minister Indranee distributed 1000 love gifts of food ration to residents together”.
In order to help families affected by the pandemic, Sian Chay Medical Institution, together with Grassroots Adviser to Tanjong Pagar GRC Grassroots Organisations and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development, Ms Indranee Rajah distributed 1000 Sian Chay food ration love gifts to 1000 rental flat residents in Tanjong Pagar constituency to provide them relief from life’s pressures, care for them and give them warmth.
The love gifts are sponsored by Sian Chay Medical Institution. Each love gift bag contained biscuits, instant noodles, rice, milo, oatmeal among other food items. Also attending the day’s love gift distribution event were volunteer Executive Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution Toh Soon Huat, JP; Tanjong Pagar – Tiong Bahru Citizens’ Consultative Committee Chairman Mr. Ho Nai Chuen, BBM, Chairman of Tiong Bahru Community Centre Management Committee Mr. Kenneth Seet, Chairman of Tiong Bahru Qi Tian Gong Temple Mr. Goh Kim Wah PBM and the kind volunteers.
Speaking with Chairman Toh Soon Huat, Minister Indranee said: “This is a very meaningful activity. Thanks to Sian Chay Medical Institution for the sponsorship. This can help these families to tide over their difficulties together.”
Minister Indranee also wrote this on the well-wishes card: “Dear residents, during this year’s pandemic, the lives of many of our neighborhood residents and friends have been severely affected. We are giving you a love gift bag. We wish you and your family good health and fortune.
Chairman Toh Soon Huat said in an interview that “a family” is the smallest “state” and “the state” is the largest “family”. The gift bag from Sian Chay Medical Institution may not solve the livelihood difficulties of all the residents, but it can bring them warmth and a glimmer of hope in these extraordinary times. It is very gratifying to see the happy expression of the residents on receiving the gift bag.
Sian Chay Medical Institution also donated $10,000 to Tanjong Pagar constituency to help residents suffering from weak, chronic diseases or cancer to obtain better care.
On the morning of November 1, Member of parliament for Radin Mas SMC, Mr Melvin Yong, and volunteer Executive Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution Toh Soon Huat, JP gave 3400 love gift cartons of instant noodles to 3,400 households in the Radin Mas constituency. Each carton contained 40 packets of instant noodles.
Chairman Toh Soon Huat also took this opportunity to thank Minister Indranee, Member of Parliament Melvin Yong and grassroots leaders for their care and support for Sian Chay Medical Institution. We also thank NTUC Fairprice for their strong support, Ms. Goh Tsu Ching and Mr. Kelvin Toh for their help, and the kind volunteers for their time and effort.
Toh Soon Huat said: “A person represents a family, because in a family, when one person is beset with problems, the other family members will face the problems too. They will be under pressure, hurt and affected. Sian Chay Medical Institution serves 40,000 patients a year, 40,000 patients represent 40,000 families, so we are not just serving 40,000 people, we are serving 40,000 families!
