Sian Chay Medical Institution is organising the “Love from Sian Chay 2017 Charity Gala” on 8th July 2018 at Singapore Expo to raise $6 million for the operation costs for 15 branches next year.
Mr. Lim Oon Cheng, Chairman of the Charity Gala Organizing Committee said that funds will be raised through sponsorships, dinner table sales, charity auction and Starhub TV show and other means.
“So far, we have raised about $3.8 million. We hope to achieve our goal of $6 million at the Charity Gala through the live auction of artworks and mementos, as well as telepoll donations.”
This year’s Charity Gala has a fabulous team of performers, including superstars Stephanie Sun, Vivian Hsu from Taiwan, Hokkien singer Tsai Hsiao-hu, famous singer Samuel Tai, Golden Melody singer Jay Lim, local singer-songwriter Li Feihui and local band Jack & Rai.
He said, three donation hotlines will be open for public to make donations of $10, $50 or $100 during the Charity Gala live show, and TV Show on 30th July and 15th August on StarHub.
Auction of 10 artworks and luxury mementos.
The Charity Gala will host 146 dinner tables and invite about 1500 guests to show our appreciation for their generous donations and support to Sian Chay. These guests include supporters, sponsors, physicians, therapists, volunteers and staff of Sian Chay. 1700 concert goers will also be invited for the LIVE Concert .
Deputy Chairman of Organizing Committee, Mr. Raymond Chua reported that the 10 artworks and luxury mementos for auction are mostly precious pieces donated by directors and supporters of Sian Chay. “For the purpose of fundraising for Sian Chay’s development, they donated their treasures for charity auctions. Such spirit is commendable.”
For example, Mr. Jackson Teo Ngiang Heng, bidded for a pair of lion craving seals at an earlier auction of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s private collection on 5 July 2003 at Fullerton Hotel. This is also one of the auction items at the Charity Gala .
Mr. Teo said, “This is a pair of seals of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and his wife Mdm Kwa Geok Choo, with both names engraved on them. I was once offered $100,000 for the pair but I didn’t let go. I hope that this time it will fetch a ‘good price’ to raise funds for Sian Chay.”
At the Sian Chay Charity Dinner last year on 19 March, Mr. Mr Anthony Aiw bidded a Master Hsing Yun’s calligraphy “Buddha” donated by Mr. Raymond Chua. Recently this year, he deeply understood the true meaning of “more blessed to give than to receive”. Thus, he decided to donate his only ink treasure to benefit the public. He said: “The funds raised from the auction of this calligraphy will surely bring relief from suffering for alot of people, which is much more meaningful than hanging it in my home.”
Knowing that Sian Chay is raising funds, Superstar Jackie Chan personally donated a limited edition Chrono 4 Temerario watch through Unusual Entertainment. This watch, which was one of the 60 limited edition special watches, was launched to celebrate his 60th birthday. The donated watch to Sian Chay was no.31 of the limited collection.
