Staff Bonding Session of Sian Chay Medical Institution

The 8th Staff Bonding Session of Sian Chay Medical Institution was held on 24th June 2017 at the Lifelong Learning Institute, Event Hall 1-1 Level 1.

The session commenced with the screening of Sian Chay corporate video and Chairman Mr. Toh Soon Huat’s President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Award 2015 video.

Introduction of Sian Chay

Mr. Toh briefed the staff on  the history, development, current performance and future plan of Sian Chay. He also shared on the 5 core values of Sian Chay; namely, Forgiveness, Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessing, and the beliefs of Sian Chay, “ Nation Progresses, Family Prospers. Family Harmony , Successful Endeavours. Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People ”. To support nation building, build social harmony. Benefit from the society, pay back to the society. To inherit the  Chinese tradition of mutual help and the noble vision of compassion. To provide free traditional medical consultation, low-cost medication, tuina therapy and health care services to the community regardless of race, religion or citizenship. To continue to serve the community and benefit more people. Chairman Toh encouraged all staff to actively follow the vision and mission of Sian Chay and apply them in their daily lives to benefit more people, elderly and residents.

Chairman Toh published a book, ” Roads”, compiling his thoughts, experiences and reflections over the years. He autographed his books and presented  to all staff for their reading. Chairman invited some colleagues to read quotes from the book and explained their understanding to the rest. He said, “If you read these words with your heart, you will  benefit from it.”

When highlighting the main thrust, Chairman Toh emphasized that Sian Chay would continue fundraising to cover the operation cost and oversee the operation management of Sian Chay. Fee schedules would be adjusted from 1st August, 2017.

Sharing of appreciation letters

Sian Chay currently serves up to 1000 patients daily qt its 13 branches.  A large number of elderly and residents sent their appreciation letters and plaques to Sian Chay after their recovery from sickness. Chairman Toh sincerely thanked all staff for their efforts and contribution to Sian Chay. He hoped that everyone could work together to bring Sian Chay to a high level of excellence.

Guinness World Records

On 14th May, 2017, “Sian Chay’s Thanksgiving May Mother’s Day ” was successfully co-organized by Ang Mo Kio GRC and Sengkang West SMC CCCs and Sian Chay Medical Institution and sponsored by Neo Group Limited.

The Guest of Honour was Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC and Grassroot Advisor. The objective of the Mother’s Day was to show our appreciation for the great maternal love and promotes filial piety, respect and return to the society. On that day, about 2,000 volunteers distributed 217,600 stalks of carnation at 100 locations island-wide to show respect to great mothers. The event also created a Guinness World Record. On that night, PM Lee Hsien Loong posted on Facebook to thank and compliment Sian Chay.

In appreciation for the staff who participated in setting the Guinness World Record, Chairman Toh presented the Guinness World Record certificates to each participant.

Team sharing

Physician in charge  of each branch shared their experiences and problems at work with team members. Active sharing and communication amongst staff followed. Staff mentioned that they were all working together happily and would continue to do that to serve more people following the leadership of Chairman Toh. A survey form was circulated to all staff to collate feedback  from the branches for HQ analysis.

All attendees communicated in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and took group picture together. Buffet lunch was served after the Bonding Session.

89 colleagues attended the meeting. By the end of the Staff Bonding session at 2:30 pm, all attendees were reluctant to leave.
