Mr. Toh Soon Huat, Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution, has been involved in philanthropy for over 20 years. “Treasure Life, Gratitude to Humanity”, a book covering with his life experiences, won the third place in “Popular Readers’ Choice Awards 2019″
Since the publication of “Treasure Life, Gratitude to Humanity”, the book has been acclaimed for the insights, wisdom, and profound life philosophies, as well as the invaluable life directions shared with the readers.
Toh Soon Huat, JP said, “I got involved in charity at the age of 24. In the past 18 years, I have actively participated in many charity activities in Singapore, raising a total of $80 million for over 30 social groups, community and charitable organizations. Since 2002, my combined personal and corporate donations have exceeded $7 million.”
“I have been volunteering in Sian Chay for ten years. I have learned a lot and experienced a lot from my hand-on management style. I am grateful that I was born in a poor family. I learned to show gratitude, take responsibility and practise sharing, which made me who I am today. It is best reward and encouragement for me to see we can help the patients and relieve their pains and burden at Sian Chay.

In fact, Forgiveness, Compassion, and Universal Love can solve many problems, including the physical and mental sicknesses, and conflicts between people. “Never forget why you started, and always remain committed.” For ten years, I have recorded the moods, minds, states, feelings and philosophies of life on Facebook and WeChat. The print run for my first four collections of quotations, “Gratitude 1”. “Gratitude 2”, “Path” and “Treasure Life, Gratitude to Humanity” was more than 70,000 copies (27,500 copies for “Treasure Life, Gratitude to Humanity”, 27,000 copies for “Roads”, and 20,000 copies for “Gratitude”) and have received positive responses which also motivated me to keep on writing. The spread of benevolence knowledge through the power of words also allows more people to approach charity, understand charity, pay attention to charity, participate in charity, and give back to society.”
