Tuas Pek Kong Keng Conveying Love to the Public
Sunday, 10th March 2019
On 10th March (Sunday), the Tuas Pek Kong Keng Management Council organised the “Pek Kong birthday celebrations and Respect for the Seniors Dinner” at the parking lot next to Tuas Pek Kong Keng. During the event, “Annual Welfare 2019” was presented to Singapore charitable organizations including Sian Chay which received $5,000. This is the sixth year that Tuas Pek Kong Keng donated to Sian Chay. Sian Chay has received a total of $30,000 donation from Tuas Pek Kong Keng which had supported 3000 elderly patients receiving free consultation, medicine and tuina at Sian Chay.
Tuas Pek Kong Keng was founded by eight pioneers in 1944. At first it was just a simple attap house located in Tuas, 18 miles from Jurong. In 1954, it was reconstructed into a concrete temple. In 1974, the government requisitioned Tuas for the development of an industrial estate. Tuas Pek Kong Keng and the residents of Tuas were all affected. Because many residents moved to Boon Lay, Tuas Pek Kong Keng decided to buy a piece of land in Boon Lay to build a new temple. The new temple was completed and inaugurated in 1987.
Conveying the same belief and energy of Sian Chay
For many years, Tuas Pek Kong Keng and Sian Chay Medical Institution have shared a common understanding in mutual help and benefit and established a close friendship. Chairman Toh Soon Huat also sponsored the publication of Tuas Pek Kong Keng’s activities on the newspapers to share with the public.
Chairman Toh Soon Huat said that “The five core values ‘Forgiveness, Universal Love, Compassion, Gratitude and Blessings’ are the cultural foundation of Sian Chay. Sian Chay also supports the nation building and fostering of a harmonious society. The beliefs that “Nation Progresses, Family Prospers; Family Harmony, Successful Endeavours”, and that “Forward with the Nation, Bonding with the People” are the roots of Sian Chay. Sian Chay is willing to partner with organizations, such as Tuas Pek Kong Keng, to convey the belief and concept of love and kindness and bring more care to the people of Singapore.
Finally, we are grateful to the goodwill and good deeds of Tuas Pek Kong Keng Management Council and all benevolent people involved.
